The Dysport Difference

Dysport is a purified botulinum neurotoxin that has been FDA approved for cosmetic use since 2009. While it is very similar to Botox, there are some key differences that, for some patients, make it preferable.

Results appear more quickly than with Botox, and the product disperses nicely to create a more seamless appearance where the product “begins and ends”. Our Dysport in Cleveland produces results that are apparent after a few days and last 3-6 months.

What Can Dysport Treat?

  • Crow’s feet
  • Wrinkles
  • Horizontal forehead creases
  • Vertical “11” lines between the eyebrows

Comparing Dysport with Botox

Dysport and Botox are both very safe and popular neuromodulators that work by relaxing the active muscles that create wrinkle formation and visibility, and both have been backed by years and years of clinical study. However, there are some differences between these two products. They’re manufactured differently and use different complexes, but Dysport also has a thinner formula which means a faster onset time and better dispersement.

  • Dysport results are noticeable within 2-3 days following treatment, while Botox takes approximately 2-3 weeks.
  • Dysport is better for treating very facial muscles that are very strong
  • Dysport’s smaller molecule allows it to spread in a more attractive way

What Happens During Treatment?

Before treatment begins, your skin will be cleansed and prepped, and possibly numbed with a topical anesthetic if needed. Dr. Frankel administers Dysport injections in Cleveland by himself, and this process takes 10-20 minutes. A very fine needle will deliver Dysport into the facial muscles.

What to Expect Afterward

There is no downtime with Dysport, and you will be able to return to your regular day following treatment. Common but temporary side effects include nausea, swelling, bruising, inflammation, or a headache. For the next few days, we recommend avoiding:

  • Rubbing or scrubbing your face
  • Bending over
  • Tanning
  • High intensity exercise
  • Excessive heat (hot yoga, showers, saunas, hot tubs, baths, etc.)
  • Alcohol (for 24 hours)
  • Lying down or reclining (for six hours after treatment)
